16-Jan-13
China’s Jiangsu Sanding Petrochemical and Technology has started building its planned yuan (CNY) 25 bln (US$4 bln) petrochemical and specialty materials project in Yancheng. Construction of a 1 mln tpa caprolactam (capro) project at the site at Jiangsu province in eastern China commenced. This project will roughly double China's annual capro capacity, which stood at 1.115 mln tpa in 2012, according to Chemease, an ICIS service in China. Jiangsu Sanding's Yancheng site is also expected to produce 1.3 mln tpa of cyclohexanone; 500,000 tpa of polyamide 6 chips; and 300,000 tpa of adipic acid (ADA). No further details nor any definite timeline were provided for the completion of each phase of the project. Jiangsu Sanding Petrochemical and Technology is a subsidiary of Chinese conglomerate Sanding Holding Group.
