JX Nippon Oil & Energy Corporation was running its naphtha-fed steam cracker and butadiene unit at around 80% in late June as jellyfish clogged sea water pipes which are used to cool the cracking unit. The company has since, cleared out clogging from its water pipes and has been running the naphtha-fed steam cracker and butadiene unit at 100% of capacity since early July, as per Platts.
Steam cracker capacity is about 404,000 tpa ethylene and 260,000 tpa propylene, and about 70,000 tpa at the butadiene unit.
