Kanebo to hive off resin unit

Kanebo, a household products maker in Japan, under its rehabilitation program under the state-run Industrial Revitalization Corp. of Japan, plans to sell Osaka-based Kanebo Gohsen Ltd. to Mitsubishi Chemical Corp. Kanebo Ltd. will quit the polyester resin business at the end of September. Kanebo holds 20% of the outstanding shares in the joint venture in Sabae, Fukui Prefecture. The subsidiary, which manufactures polyester resin recorded up 6.2 billion yen in sales in fiscal 2004.
