KazMunaiGas plans to borrow US$4 bln for petrochem plant

Kazakhstan's state oil and gas firm KazMunaiGas plans to borrow upto US$4 billion to finance petrochemicals production in a venture with Basell. The plant to be located in western Kazakhstan will produce 400,000 tpa of polypropylene and polyethylene that will be sold under the Basell brand name. Construction for the project is scheduled to start in 2007.
