LANXESS divests U.S. and Canadian blowing agent line

18-Mar-09
In an effort to further consolidate its portfolio and focus on core businesses, LANXESS Corporation has sold its FICEL® blowing agent product line sold in the U.S. and Canada to Hughes Polymer Additives Corporation. FICEL® blowing agents are used in flexible and rigid polyvinyl chloride foams for various applications, primarily in the housing and construction industries, including decking, molding and sheet for soffit and fascia. John Hughes, President of Hughes Polymer Additives, started the original business, Hughes Industrial Corporation, in 1986. In 2000, Hughes sold its blowing agents business line to Bayer Corporation. The line transitioned to LANXESS in 2004, when the Bayer Group combined most of its chemical businesses and large segments of its polymer activities to form LANXESS Corporation. Hughes Polymer Additives Corporation is located in Acworth, GA, with manufacturing sites in various locations throughout the United States.
