Specialty chemicals company LANXESS announced that its Basic Chemicals business unit (BAC) has increased prices worldwide for its entire product portfolio by a minimum of seven per cent with immediate effect. The primary factors behind this measure are higher raw material and energy expenses as a result of the recent development in oil prices.
BAC is one of the world's leading manufacturers of high-quality industrial chemicals. The main product groups are chlorobenzenes, chlorotoluenes and cresols, nitrotoluenes, polyols and oxidation products (e.g. trimethylolpropane, 1,6-hexanediol, maleic anhydride), benzyl products (e.g. benzylchloride, benzylalcohol, benzoylchloride) and inorganic acids (e.g. hydrofluoric acid).
