China Construction International (CCI) zeroed in on the Corzan® CPVC (chlorinated poly vinyl chloride) manufactured by Lubrizol Corporation for the water treatment system at the main competition swimming pool at the Beijing Olympics. The water treatment system for Olympics was constructed in less than six months costing around US$500,000.
Corzan® CPVC provides for quick, easy, safe, clean installation and offers resistance to a number of chemicals, thereby easily meeting the potable water standards. The filtration system is corrosion resistant even in the system's aggressive chemical environment, had smooth interiors and large diameter resulting in greater energy efficiency and water conveyance. Being lighter than metals, it offers ease of movement and its insulation properties help to maintain the water temperature.
