LyondellBasell Industries NV planned the restart of its olefins unit at the La Porte chemical plant, Texas, as per Bloomberg. The unit encountered an unrelated issue while increasing operating rates and had to be temporarily shut down. LyondellBasell plans Q2 maintenance on one of the steam crackers at its Channelview complex, last shuttered for maintenance none years ago. Turnaround on its second cracker at the site is scheduled for 2012. The Channelview complex, 20 miles east of Houston, has two olefin units at the north-side plant that manufacture ethylene, propylene, butadiene and benzene, according to the companywebsite. The south-side plant uses many of these products to produce gasoline blending products and other chemicals.
