Maire Tecnimont (Italy)has been awarded a US$350 mln contract by SOCAR Polymer for the construction of a polypropylene plant in the territory of Sumgait Chemical Industrial Park (SCIP/SKSP). SOCAR Polymer is a subsidiary of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) and has awarded the contract for construction of the 180,000 tpa polypropylene plant, scheduled for completion by end of 2017. Construction is likely to start in August or September 2015.
SOCAR holds a 51% stake in SOCAR Polymer, while teh balance 49% is held by the largest private holdings of Azerbaijan - PASHA Holding, Gilan Holding and Azersun Holding, as per abc.az.
