Malaysia to terminate anti-dumping duty on imports of polyethylene terephthalate from Thailand

24-Oct-16

The Malaysian government has decided to terminate the anti-dumping duty imposed on the imports of polyethylene terephthalate (PET) originating in or exported from Thailand. The decision by the ministry of international trade and industry (MITI) is based on information gathered during the administrative review (expiry) investigation concerning such duties, as per Fibre2Fashion News Desk.

On 20 April 2016, the Government of Malaysia initiated an administrative review (expiry) investigation concerning anti-dumping duties imposed on imports of PET originating in or exported from Thailand based on a petition filed by MPI Polyester Industries Sdn. Bhd. (MPIPI). “The Government of Malaysia based on information gathered during the review has decided to terminate the anti-dumping duty imposed on the imports of PET originating in or exported from Thailand in accordance with Section 28 (6) of the Countervailing and Anti-Dumping Duties Act 1993,” MITI said in a statement.
