Malaysian Govt confirms anti-dumping by PET exporters

The Government of Malaysia had initiated an anti-dumping investigation based on a petition filed by MPI Polyester Industries (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd. on 27, January 2005. Preliminary investigations have concluded that the domestic industry had suffered material injury as a result of dumping, following which, provisional anti-dumping duties were imposed effective from 25, June 2005. The Government has completed the final investigations as provided under section 25 of the Countervailing and Anti-Dumping Duties Act 1993, and has confirmed that dumping had occurred and the domestic industry was materially injured. This investigation was carried on behalf of the domestic industry producing polyethylene terepththalate (PET resin), used in production of bottles, films, sheets and strap. Accordingly the following amount will be imposed as anti-dumping duties : oForlin Corporation - 30.74% o Far Eastern Textile Ltd - 5.13% o Nan Ya Plastics Corporation - Nil o Others - 30.74% o PT Bakrie/Kasei Corporation - 17.69% o PT Indorama Synthetics Tbk 11.62% o PT Petnesia Resindo 17.69% o PT Polypet Karyapersada 2.17% o PT SK Keris Nil o Others from Indonesia - 17.69%
