Mitsui Chem mulls furnace for non-naphtha feedstock

30-May-06
Mitsui Chemicals Inc. is considering building a new furnace at its 455,000 tpa Osaka naphtha cracker in a bid to raise the use of non-naphtha feedstock. This switch is being considered in response to a surge in naphtha prices and is in line with the company's goal to raise its percentage of non-naphtha feedstock to 35%. In addition to naphtha, the new furnace would operate on comparatively affordable liquefied petroleum gas, natural gas liquids, kerosene and gasoil as feedstocks.
