Mitsui Chemicals and Idemitsu Kosan mull integration of Chiba operations

Japan’s Mitsui Chemicals Inc and third-largest refiner Idemitsu Kosan Co are considering integration of oil refining and ethanol production at Chiba. The two majors plan to partner by setting up a limited liability partnership towards the joint management of Idemitsu refinery and ethanol plants of both companies in Chiba. The joint output of their ethanol plants of 927,000 tons totals to 13% of domestic production, with sales totaling to 200 yen. . Feedstock naphtha to Idemitsu and Mitsui Chemical facilities in Chiba is supplied by Idemitsu's Chiba Prefecture refinery.
