Takayoshi Wada, 46, Mitsui Oil (Asia) supervisor, convicted of making false entries resulting in losses of US$81 mln was sentenced to 20 weeks' jail for his part in aiding the scam. He has until May 25 to appeal his punishment meted in the Subordinate Court.
Wada has earlier admitted to aiding his then-colleague at Mitsui, Noriyuki Yamazaki, report inaccurate prices of naphtha. Yamazaki has pleaded guilty, was sentenced in February, and is appealing against his 5 year jail term later this month.
