New biopolymer-based extruded net tubing unveiled

Australia's BioPak, a supplier of biodegradable packaging has unveiled new compostable extruded net tubing named BioNet which is manufactured from starch based biopolymer. The material, which took two years to develop, is certified compostable and complies with European Standard EN13432 and will decompose into CO2, water and biomass in a compost facility within 180 days, the company asserts. The new material has excellent tensile strength and can be used as an effective replacement for conventional extruded net. The applications include produce packaging, seafood packaging, horticulture and industrial netting.
