Amcor Flexibles, the flexible packaging division of Australian packaging company, Amcor, have unveiled a CP Film, a peelable ionomer-based forming film utilizing a peelable resin blend to provide seal integrity and a clean peel to uncoated Tyvek®. As claimed by the company, the multilayer, coextruded film features the excellent formability and strength properties associated with ionomer films, providing a wide forming range and draw uniformity for easy processing on a variety of thermoform-fill-seal machines and across multiple medical device applications.
Conventionally, coated webs were used to improve peelability and get rid of fiber tear when opening. However, Amcor says that packaging utilizing peelable CP Film addresses this issue, and offers a lower cost total package compared to forming films mated to coated webs. Mated to uncoated Tyvek® top webs, the peelable CP film also allows customers to use shorter EtO sterilization cycle times compared to coated Tyvek® top webs due to increased porosity.
