Lubrizol Advanced Materials, Inc., a subsidiary of The Lubrizol Corporation announced that its Solsperse 72700 polymeric dispersant, provides higher productivity in many solvent-based packaging ink applications due to its high millbase loading and shorter dispersion times.
Solsperse 72700 dispersant is a 40% active polymeric dispersant in ethyl acetate, recommended for use with organic pigments-including blues, rubines and specific grades of yellow-and carbon black in alcohol-rich systems. It is suitable for resin-free and resin-containing dispersions that are compatible with a variety of key binder resins, including nitrocellulose, polyurethane and polyamide. In these applications, the company claims that Solsperse 72700 dispersant produces highly pigmented concentrates, making it ideal for mixing schemes. In addition, it provides high tinctorial properties-especially when applied to carbon black pigments-and also improves the performance of poor wetting resins. Solsperse 72700 should be dissolved in the millbase resin or solvent before the addition of pigments.
