For the first time in 12 years, crude oil prices have fallen below US$30 a barrel. New York's benchmark West Texas Intermediate (WTI) for February delivery fell to US$29.93 a barrel, while Brent North Sea crude for February settled at US$30.8 a barrel.
OPEC member Nigeria called for an emergency meeting of OPEC to address collapsing prices.
