New York’s main contract, light sweet crude for delivery in February, shed two cents to US$93.07 while Brent North Sea crude for February delivery gained to rise to US$111.4. Oil prices were mixed in Asian trade as weak energy demand and concerns over more fiscal battles in Washington tempered the news of a modest growth in the US jobs market. Data showed that the US economy generated 1,55,000 jobs in December, and the unemployment rate held at 7.8%.
