Arya Sasol-a JV between Iran's National Petrochemical Company (NPC) and South African chemicals giant Sasol-are reportedly expected to set the open-spec polyethylene production underway at its HDPE/MDPE swing plant in Assaluyeh, Iran by October end while the LDPE plant is slated to start a month later. Ethylene for the plants would be sourced from Arya Sasol's 1 mln tpa cracker which achieved full-spec production in December.
In early April, the company had already started its trial production at the two plants with a capacity of 300,000 tpa each. Initially, Arya Sasol were expected to kick off productions at its units in H2 2007 but was delayed a number of times owing to technical manpower shortfall.
