ONGC's Mangalore petrochemicals project awaits approval of PMO

Oil & Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGC), having planned two plants at Dahej and Mangalore as a part of its corporate plan to diversify into the petrochemicals sector, is awaiting clearance from the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) for its ambitious project in Mangalore. Whether this is the first project that requires the PMO's approval is not known, but the PMO's nod is crucial for the work to commences. ONGC has almost finalised the roadmap for the project at Dahej in Gujarat for which it will shortly appoin consultant to prepare a detailed feasibility report. The Dahej project will entail an investment of about Rs 15,000 crore to be spent over a span of four to five years.
