Open-ended shut down at Flint Hills' Port Arthur ethylene plant

03-Dec-08
Deteriorating demand caused by a global economic slowdown has triggered an indefinites shutdown of Flint Hills Resources' Port Arthur ethylene and propylene plant. The restart date will depend on improvement in market conditions. Flint Hills employs about 185 people at the plant that it had acquired from Huntsman Corp. a year ago. The plant in Port Arthur was the Texaco Chemicals plant before Huntsman purchased it in the mid-1990s.
