Refineries and petrochemical plants in Thailand are reported to be operating normally despite the country's armed forces seizing power in a bloodless late-night coup from Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra. The employees in the companies' offices in Bangkok have been asked to stay at home.
The Petroleum Authority of Thailand, the country's biggest oil player and olefins producer, Aromatic (Thailand) Co., and PTT Exploration and Production asked staff workers in Bangkok to stay at home on Wednesday.
However, PTT's petrochemical operations in Map Ta Phut and Rayong are operating at normalcy. The Siam Cement Group continues to operate its petrochemical complex in Map Ta Phut as per normal.
Operations at the largest refiner Thaioil, PTT Exploration and Production and Rayong Refinery Co were not affected by the coup.
