Oxea shuts down oxo production at Oberhausen, Germany due to damage

Oxea, a global supplier of oxo products and olefin derivatives has shut down its entire oxo production at its Oberhausen-based plants in Germany due to a discovered damage in the plants. The production will be discontinued from November 17 to November 26, 2008 due to immediate repairs in the plants and is set resume operations thereafter. The company has confirmed sufficiency in inventories to ensure the supply of its customers during the shutdown. The company is an international market leader in the production of acetates, alcohols, amines, carboxylic acids and aldehydes. Oxea has annual sales worth about EUR 1.3 bln and employs approximately 1,300 people mainly in Germany (Oberhausen and Marl) and the United States (Bay City and Bishop).
