PET Oxi-biodegradation technology to cut down waste

25-Nov-08
As per National Association for PET Container Resources (NAPCOR), barely 23.5% of PET bottles were recycled in the USA in 2006, representing a drop of over 16% over 10 years. Introduction of Reverte technology can help countries with conventionally low recycling levels to reduce waste. UK-based Wells Plastics has adapted its technology for use in those polyethylene terephthalate (PET) bottles not recycled. The technology will help the PET to oxi-biodegrade in about ten years, depending on climatic conditions. However, Wells Plastics says that the technology is not intended to replace recycling, as Reverte-treated PET remains fully recyclable.
