Petrochem complex project in Saudi Arabia awarded to JGC

JGC Corporation has been awarded a contract by Aramco Overseas Company B.V., for the Front-End Engineering and Design (FEED) services of a High Olefin Fluid Catalytic Cracker (FCC) and an Ethane cracker, to be constructed at Rabigh in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Aramco Overseas Co B.V. is the subsidiary of Saudi Arabian Oil Company (Saudi Aramco) and Sumitomo Chemical Company Ltd. (Sumitomo Chemical) of Japan. The FEED services is expected to be ready for delivery by the end of September 2005. Saudi Aramco and Sumitomo Chemical are together planning the world's largest integrated refining and petrochemical complex at Rabigh. The High Olefin FCC and Ethane Cracker are the main facilities of the Complex, with approximately 1.3 million tpa of ethylene and 900,000 tpa of propylene. Saudi Aramco and Sumitomo Chemical are planning to establish a new joint venture in the middle of 2005. The target date for the completion of this complex is mid-2008.
