Eastman Chemical has shut its hydrocracking plant No. 4 in Longview, Texas, after pipe failure on Sunday, as per a company spokeswoman in Platts. "HCC #4 is down because of the pipe failure," spokeswoman Kristin Parker said. "The repairs should be completed by the end of the week." The Longview complex has ethylene production capacity of 640,000 tpa, of which 360,000 tpa are provided by hydrocracking plant No. 4.
The shutdown coincides with a company filing with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality on Sunday. The emissions event associated with the filing is expected to last until Tuesday, during which the company is planning to flare 44,688 lb of ethylene and 12,936 lb of propylene, along with other chemicals.
