GAIL has inked an agreement with Brahmaputra Cracker and Polymer Limited (BPCL) to market all the petrochemical products from it's upcoming natural gas and naphtha cracker complex, as per Platts. GAIL owns a 70% stake in BCPL, whose cracker at Lepetkata in Assam state is expected to be ready toward the end of 2012. 220,000 tpa of high density polyethylene and linear low density polyethylene along with 60,000 tpa of polypropylene will be marketed by GAIL, augmenting polymer marketing volumes by more than 50% to 780,000 tpa by fiscal 2012-2013 (April-March).
The integrated petrochemical complex at Lepetkata will have the capacity to produce 60,000 tpa of propylene, 220,000 tpa of HDPE/LLDPE, 60,000 tpa of polypropylene, 55,000 tpa of raw pyrolysis gasoline and 12,500 tpa of fuel oil.
