PolyOne, in collaboration with Kraton Polymers LLC, has developed a new range of TPE-S products. OnFlex™-S KA (2K grade for polyamide) was created specifically for multi-component moulding to polyamide offering improved performance at high temperatures.
PolyOne's new OnFlex-S KA product range is based on Kraton® MD 6684CS, a new innovation produced by Kraton. The MD-6684CS polymer is a clear, linear high molecular weight, functionalized tri-block copolymer based on styrene and ethylene/butylene, which exhibits excellent flow and compatibility with polyolefins, together with desirable adhesion on polar surfaces, and superior performance at high temperature.
While previous ranges of TPE-S grades for multicomponent molding, provided good adhesion to PA 6, the range of OnFlex-S KA grades offers even better adhesion to PA6 as well as good adhesion to other polyamides (including glass filled) and improved performance at higher temperatures. PolyOne has tailored these compounds to provide enhanced compression set at elevated temperatures, without a sacrifice in temperature performance that can occur with bonding grades of TPE-S or TPE-V.
Improvements in adhesive strength and high temperature performance will enable production of complex designs across a wide range of applications including automotive, electrical and industrial markets. PolyOne's OnFlex-S KA range multi-component molding grades are available in a range of hardnesses from 30 to 80 Shore A.
