14-Apr-09
In response to the growing market for photovoltaic installations worldwide, US-based PolyOne Corporation has added compounds for cable insulation and jacketing applications used in solar panels. PolyOne's ECCOH™ compounds can be used for making protective cable insulation for photovoltaic cells that convert sunlight into electricity. According to the company, ECCOH products are highly flame retardant, non-corrosive, offer low toxicity and smoke density, and are classified as a PolyOne Sustainable Solution. "Photovoltaic installations are growing worldwide by about 30 percent annually. Responding to market demand for solar panels, our new materials illustrate PolyOne's commitment to sustainable technologies and specialized solutions geared toward helping customers win today and tomorrow," said Murielle Chuzeville, PolyOne's general manager of low smoke and fume, zero halogen compounds.
