Technical problems in internal feedstock supply have caused an interruption at BASF's Ludwigshafen plant. Due to a shut down in production of expandable polystyrene, BASF will be unable to supply its Styropor and Neopor foam products till the end of the week. This disturbance in the production cycle will affect output of a "few thousand metric tons".
This follows Nova Chemicals; decision to "temporarily idle" its Bayport, Texas, styrene monomer plant because of limited ethylene feedstock availability on the Gulf Coast last month
