Aker Kvaerner has completed a new Purified Terephthalic Acid (PTA) plant project for Zhejiang Hualian Sunshine Petro-Chemical Co. Ltd. PTA is the feedstock for polyester. The PTA plant uses technology from INVISTA and has created a record when plant start-up was realised with nameplate capacity within four days. Aker Kvaerner provided the extended basic engineering design, and supplied the offshore material and equipment, as well as site advisory services, onshore technical review services for the detail design carried out by the Chinese Design Institute, HuanQiu Contracting & Engineering Corporation, based in Beijing.
Aker Kvaerner has worked on more than 20 PTA facilities over the past 20 years- around 20% of the world's PTA production capacity.
