Recovery in benzene markets of SE Asia expected to be marginal

As oil prices dipped, offers for September benzene deliveries were heard down at as low as US$1240/MT in Asia. Marginal recovery is expected in August in Southeast Asia as Thailand's PTT Aromatics & Refining Public Co has suspended benzene spot cargoes for export. The company had originally planned to export three vessels of benzene cargoes at the beginning of the month. Last weekend's plant turnaround at No.2 BTX plant of S. Korea's Yeochon Naphtha Cracking Centre (YNCC) has interestingly not supported markets or improved sentiments in spot markets for benzene in Asia. YNCC has restarted production at its No.2 BTX plant at 90% capacity since this week. Nameplate capacity at the No.2 BTX plant includes 130,000 tpa of benzene, 70,000 tpa of toluene
