Mitsubishi Chemical Corp., Japan's top petrochemical maker will delay restart of the No.1 naphtha cracker at its Kashima plant by 3 days. The 410,000 tpa ethylene plant, that should have restarted at the beginning of the month, is now planed on July 4. The plant has been under scheduled maintenance since May 13. This delay in turn also affects the turnaround schedule of the No. 2 cracker. The start of maintenance on the No.2 naphtha cracker at Kashima has been delayed by two days to July 6.Operations at the 516,000 tpa no. 2 cracker had been suspended for nearly three months after a fire in December that claimed four lives.
