As part of a €40 mln cost reduction program to improve the competitiveness of its polyamide businesses in Europe, Rhodia plans to shutter a polyamide plant at Ceriano in Italy by mid-2009. Slower growth of polyamide in Europe as compared with quicker expansion in Eastern Europe, Latin America and Asia has triggered this decision. Simultaneously, Rhodia plans expansions at Lyon Belle-Etoile facility in France and the Gorzow facility in Poland.. All Rhodia Polyamide's European research, development and applications teams will be centralized to a single site in Lyon to enhance efficiency.
