Rompetrol's petrochemical unit nets income of over 1 mln Euro

10-Oct-06
Rompetrol Petrochemicals company has budgeted net income worth 1.1 million euros for the year, as against the losses of around 4 million euros registered last year. The company generated income of 673,490 euros amid turnover worth 55.8 million euros in H1, up 29% against the similar period of last year. A chunk of the profits can be attributed to the continuous operation of the polypropylene unit, that was halted last year for more than a month for inspection and maintenance. Sustained trading activities and higher prices for petrochemicals are also responsible for the increase in income. Rompetrol expects to continue with the same pace of growth in the second half. Rompetrol Petrochemicals is the only producer of polypropylene in Romania, holding a market share of 60.71%. The company also holds a share of 6.61% on the PET segment that is witnessing one of the fastest growth rates on the market. Rompetrol Petrochemicals plans to invest an estimated 80 million euros in a PET plant by late 2007 to benefit from this trend.
