South Korea's SK Corp. will shut down a 620,000 tpa naphtha cracker for about a week to fix technical problems. The shutdown will be made after the public holidays on Thursday and Friday, when markets will be shut for the major Chusok holiday. This cracker underwent a 34 day planned maintenance to expand its capacity by 30,000 tons in late August.
The unscheduled shutdown has forced SK Energy Asia, a trading arm of SK Corp. to sell December H2 naphtha lots during the window session on Thursday.
