As part of its plan to expand its petrochemical business in the ASEAN region by focusing on high-value, products, Siam Cement Group (SCG) plans to build a US$466.5 mln (Baht 17.1 billion) integrated polyolefins plant. The complex is scheduled to commence operations in 2010. The cracker will produce 900,000 tpa ethylene, 800,000 tpa propylene and 700,000 tpa of other petrochemical products. The downstream plant will have capacity to produce 400,000 tpa each of HDPE and PP.
The downstream plant will be supplied feedstock from the naphtha cracker in Rayong, which is a 67:33 joint venture with Dow Chemical.
