Russian gas processing and petrochemicals company SIBUR has strengthened its biaxially oriented polypropylene (BOPP) film production capabilities in Novokuybyshevsk, Samara Oblast, Russia, with a new production line, as per chemicals-technology.com. The project was carried out by BIAXPLEN, a part of SIBUR Holding, with an investment of RUB1.9 bln (US$55.6 mln), which created 100 new jobs. The new 30,500 mtpa production line, which is manufactured by German firm Brückner Maschinenbau, has increased BOPP film production capacity at Novokuybyshevsk to 55,500 mtpa. It is designed to boost BIAXPLEN's supply of five-layer films to the Russian and European markets, including Italy, Poland, Germany, France and Turkey, as well as increase the volume of SIBUR's own polypropylene processing.
