The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) and Maire Tecnimont have signed a contract for the turnkey construction of a Sumgait plant on high density polyethylene production. The plant will produce 120,000 tpa of high-density polyethylene (HDPE) on technology INEOS Innovene S. The project will be financed due to Gazprombank’s loan. The total project cost is estimated at US$180 mln. The project start is scheduled for 2016, start-up works for late 2017 or early 2018, and commissioning of the plant for the end of Q2-2018.
