Business is limping back to normalcy in Texas after Hurricane Rita. Very little damage has been reported to chemical plants. However, several refineries in Texas could take weeks to fully resume operations.
Valero Energy Corp. has restarted its Houston refinery, is working on restarting its refinery in Texas City, but its 255,000-bpd refinery in Port Arthur will be out 2-4 weeks.
Exxon Mobil Corp. expects to complete a damage survey this week at its Beaumont refinery. USA's largest refinery in the Houston area city of Baytown, is in the process of restarting.
Royal Dutch Shell PLC's Port Arthur refinery has sustained some damage. But its refinery near Houston, which has already begun shipping stock piles to U.S. markets, could start up in the next few days.
Marathon Oil Corp. is restarting its Texas City refinery.
Total Petrochemical gave no start-up date for its 240,000 bbpd Port Arthur refinery, though it appeared to be in good shape.
Calcasieu Refining Co. gave no start-up date for its refinery in Lake Charles, La., which was without power Monday and suffered some damage.
BP PLC gave no update on its Texas City refinery.
Chevron Corp. has restarted production at both oil platforms in Nigeria that it shut down due to threats by a militia last week. The two account for output of 27,000 bpd.
