Philadelphia-based Sunoco Chemicals plans to permanently close its 400 mln pounds polypropylene (PP) facility no later than April 30. The final decision can be credited to an extensive research conducted by the company that revealed that the plant is no longer financially viable.
Sunoco has three other PP facilities- one in La Porte, Texas; another in Marcus Hook, Pa.; and the third in Neal, W.Va. These plants will assume portions of Bayport's production.
