Taiwan's Petrochem update

18-Jul-05
· Dairen Chemical Corp that had shut down its about 300,000 mta vinyl acetate monomer plant in Mai Liao has restarted its plant after two weeks of scheduled maintenance. It is contemplated to bring the plant back to full operating rates over the weekend. · Dhairen has also restarted its about 145,000 mta VAM plant in Tashe that had been shut down for maintenance from early November to early December last year. · Taiwan's Chinese Petroleum Corp is to cut back its ethylene contract deliveries to domestic contract customers by 20% until mid-September due to an extended shutdown at its No 3 naphtha cracker at Lin Yuan. The cracker is considered to be shut as a blast occurred at a pipeline linking the cracker to a hydrogen storage tank while the unit was being restarted after a month-long shutdown.
