Tecknow-Edge 2014 provides common platform for plastics machinery manufacturers and processors

Plastics Machinery Manufacturers Association of India organised a knowledge sharing seminar for the Plastics Industry “PMMAI Tecknow-Edge 2014”on June 7, 2014 at Hotel Taj Deccan in Hyderabad. The half day program was supported by Andhra Plastics Processors Association, and saw a fantastic turnout of over 140 attendees from the Plastics Industry. The list of delegates included stalwarts of the industry, leading plastics processors from Hyderabad and leaders from plastics machinery manufacturing sector from across the country like Ferromatik Milacron , Mamata Group, Kabra Extrusiontechnik Ltd, Rajoo, Windsor, Toshiba, Steer Engineering, Prasad Group, Neoplast. Tecknow-Edge 2014 was organised with the goal of providing a common platform for Plastics machinery manufacturers and processors to interact with each other. The seminar was flagged off with a welcome note by PMMAI Chairman – Mr Mahendra N Patel, who also briefed the august gathering about PMMAI activities. Seminar featured five experienced speakers who shed light on new & profitable business trends and issues experienced by the processing industry. The opening lecture was delivered by Dr Pradeep Bakshi, Consultant- Plastics Technology on The Essence of Quality in Plastics. He emphasised that Quality translates to Money & Customer Satisfaction. It offers customer benefits like improved communications, improvement in products and services, lower costs; while offering supplier benefits that include focus on right areas, better products at lower costs, satisfied customers, customer loyalty and increased profits. Mr. Prashant Suri and Mr. Rajakumar K from Siemens Ltd spoke on efficient use of Energy in Manufacturing, emphasising the definitive importance of savings in energy for cutting costs during manufacturing. This was followed by a noteworthy talk on “How can one generate maximum profits from a moulding shop” by Mr. M Amarnath, Regional Manager, Ferromatik Milacron India Pvt. Ltd. Mr. Amarnath provided a useful insight into maximizing molding shop profits keeping in mind the various elements of efficiency like factory & shop floor layout, waste elimination at various stages of production, automation for consistency and selection of appropriate process technology and equipments. He emphasized that areas of possible automation include Mould Changing System, Material Feeding System, Product Removal & Transfer System and Information Management System. Mr Abhay S Upadhye, Director, MIFA Systems Pvt. Ltd. captivated the audience with information on Instrumental Role of Controls in Plastics processing. He provided information about automation and latest control systems which can save time and energy. He stressed on various parameters to explore better control solutions like Safety (always top most priority), user friendliness, versatility, quick Up-time through remote maintenance, preventive maintenance and improving the machine life through artificial Intelligence. Mr J Venugopal, Sr Vice President of Andhra Pradesh Plastics Manufacturers Association elightened the audience on the latest development in the State and updated them on growing opportunities for plastics industry in newly formed state of Telangana. The information packed evening ended with a Thank You note by Mr S V Kabra, Vice Chairman – PMMAI who rightly commented- Ache Din Aa Gaye Hain( good times have come)
