Toyo Engineering awarded 240 bln yen turnkey contract for RAPID’s

Toyo Engineering was awarded a contract for a steam cracker complex (SCC) as part of the RAPID integrated refinery and petrochemicals project by Malaysia's Petronas in Pengerang, Johor. The contract was awarded on a lump sum turn-key basis and is scheduled for completion by mid-2019. The scope of the deal includes engineering, procurement of equipment and materials, construction and commissioning. Facilities include a new ethylene plant, pryolysis gasoline unit, a butadiene extraction plant, a benzene separation plant, a MTBE production unit and related utilities and offsite facilities. The contract amount is approximately 240 billion yen, according to Toyo officials. The overall RAPID project will consist of a 300,000 bpd refinery and petrochemical complex with a combined capacity of producting 7.7 million tpa of various grades of products, including differentiated and specialty chemicals products such as synthetic rubbers and high-grade polymers.
