Vietnam criticizes anti dumping lawsuit filed by US bagmakers

Vietnam has strongly criticized a lawsuit filed by two US bagmakers asking for anti-dumping duties against plastic bags imported from Vietnam. The country has been fully implementing its commitments and duties as well as observing the WTO regulations, including those on subsidy. The US companies’ complaints are totally contrary to the US government’s policy of not imposing countervailing duties on non-market economies. And the US government does not acknowledge that Vietnam is a market economy to be subject to countervailing duties. the US companies’ complaints are completely contrary to the US government’s policy of not imposing the countervailing duties on non-market economies. The DOC’s figures showed that the US imported PE bags from Vietnam worth about US$19.2 mln in 2006, and US$71.8 mln in 2007 and US$85.8 mln in 2008.
