bpi.films, UK's leading manufacturer of pallet stretch, shrink and converter films, has invested GBP 10 mln (US$ 14.68 mln) to augment production capacity by 40% at its Leominster factory (Herefordshire, UK). bpi.films is one of the six businesses operated by British Polythene Industries (BPI). The outlay will also enable the business to produce a whole new range of next generation films. The company has installed two new five-layer film production lines and a new pre-stretch machine. This expansion makes bpi.films the only manufacturer in the UK to boast five layer cast film production technology.
The company spent two years identifying production state-of-the-art plant and a further 14 months to build, install and customise the new machinery to exacting, custom specifications. According to the company, the newly installed plant complies with ISO 14001 environmental management standards while being extremely energy efficient and allows all scrap produced to be recycled.
