South Korea’s number 1 ethylene maker-Yeochun NCC Co. (YNCC) has had an unplanned shutdown at its naphtha cracker due to a technical glitch. The No. 2 naphtha cracker with capacity to produce 580,000 tpa of ethylene was reported to be halted because of “trouble” in the facility’s control system. Resumption of normal production may take “a few days”. The naphtha cracker was shut after a fire broke out at one of its nine furnaces, ICIS reported.
