The PA 6 plant built by Zimmer in 1995 at Tarnow, Poland is to be upgraded and expanded to double its production of engineering plastics and film products. The contract has been awarded to Zimmer AG, Frankfurt, Germany, part of the GEA Group by Zaklady Azotowe W Tarnowie-Moscicach S.A. The plant will use caprolactam as feedstock. Annual production capacity of the plant is to be upgraded from about 22,750 tons to about 45,000 tons of polyamide 6 chips that will be further processed to engineering plastics and film products.
Zimmer-a leading engineering, procurement and construction company with a strong focus on process technology operating worldwide in the polymers and synthetic fiber industries-besides this technology is to also provide basic engineering and key equipment responsible for the supervision of erection and start-up of the plant. The upgraded plant is scheduled to go on-stream in the fourth quarter of 2006
