Through the year 2007, the global demand for plastics in the automotive industry will have grown by 22%. The average weightof plastics per car is set to rise by 12% by 2007. World wide car production is forecast to increase by 14.5% through 2007, which would have a large impact on the relationship between plastics suppliers and car manufacturers. The increase in the amount of plastics percar would raise the value of plastics used to over US $13 billion by 2007. The developing markets would be creating the maximum demand through it's, increased car output such as Eastern Europe (86.8%), Asia (25.20%) and Latin America (77.30%). The impact of external influences on the automotive industry's use of plastics would play a major role in deciding the raw materials that will be used. Legislation and recycling would also set new trends in plastics usage for the automotive industry.
